York Green Party presents an Ethical Fashion Show as part of York Fashion Week.
Surprisingly the clothing and fashion industry proves to be the second most polluting and wasteful industry after oil and gas.
Who would’ve realised this?! Well, we’re offering some solutions, looking back to locally grown crops like flax and hemp in the North of England, the mainstay of wool and tweed, and novel fibres such as bamboo, nettle, and even pineapple fibre! There will be some superb designs on the catwalk made be local couturiers who are passionate about improving the ethics of the fashion industry and we’re teaming this with the re-use of vintage clothing to explore sustainable chic and to minimise our impact on the environment and society. We even have the launch of a new product, designed by a company in York. The models will show these designs in the lovely surroundings of The Courtyard at The Hotel du Vin. A glass of wine (or a non-alcoholic alternative) is included in the ticket price.
