Green councillors invest in homes for residents

Councillor Denise Craghill, Executive Member for Housing and Safer Neighborhoods at City of York Council, said:

“City of York Council invests heavily in the homes of residents.

“Between 2021 to 2022: 432 homes were refurbished, 136 homes received new double glazed windows, 19 homes received new roofs, 458 homes received new energy efficient heating systems and 492 new doors were fitted.

“In 2022/23 a further 410 homes are due to be refurbished, double glazed windows will be installed in 244 homes, 443 new energy efficient heating systems will be installed, and 51 new roofs will be fitted..

“As a Council we’re also committed to developing 600 new homes across York in council-owned sites, through the Housing Delivery Programme. The programme will deliver at least 40% affordable housing, twice the amount required by planning policy.”

meanwhile, Labour councillors voted against building warmer houses, built to the PassivHaus standard.
