Andreas Heinemeyer

Candidate for Holgate ward

Andreas is 35 and lives with his wife Catherine and two young children near Hob Moor where he is standing as a candidate for Holgate ward.

Andreas is a soil scientist at the Biology Department (PhD at the University of York). His research focus is the carbon cycle, climate change and the related issues of sustainability and lifestyle choices.

He is a founding member of the Castle Area Campaign group. In his spare time he works in his garden and allotment and loves strolling though the countryside. He also enjoys good food and ale and a wide range of music. He plays in York's premier funk band "Funkate" as well as the brass group "All Saints Brass".

He will campaign for better recycling facilities and a cleaner environment which is both safe and enjoyable for families and children. A major focus will be cheap, frequent bus travel for all and tackling car dependency in York.

Andreas says; "Only the Green Party has the policies to achieve the much-needed changes in our communities such as affordable public transport and a cleaner environment. Other parties focus too heavily on the economy and this is starting to backfire on us. If elected I will campaign on issues affecting our quality of life and that of our children."
