Andy D'Agorne

Candidate for Fishergate Ward

Since being elected as one of Yorks first Green councillors to represent Fishergate ward in 2003 Andy has become a well recognised local figure. From supporting local residents trying to block the felling of magnificent beech trees to calling for an inquiry into fire safety following the dramatic roof fire at Fulford Place flats, he has taken up issues that concern local residents as well as working to promote the 'green agenda' on the City of York Council.

Andy first stood for the Green Party while living in Sheffield in the 1990s, where Green Party activists have now made the breakthrough with two councillors of their own.

A qualified careers adviser, he has worked in local government for many years and currently works supporting students at a local college. A lifetime of community and political activism has included campaigning for better urban cycling, peace and disarmament, trade union rights and against the Poll Tax!

A family man with a teenage daughter, his hobbies when time permits are photography, singing with world music group Chechelele and maintaining his blog!
