Candy Spillard

Candidate for Guildhall Ward

Candy Spillard lives within walking distance of Guildhall Ward, with her husband and two children. She works as a renewable energy consultant.

She has been helping to 'Keep York Special' by protesting against the 700-house development at Germany Beck, and by providing a detailed submission to the Heslington East inquiry covering (among other things) the traffic and energy problems which it will create if it goes ahead.

She has featured in the Press and the Yorkshire Post promoting energy efficiency, recycling, saving water and questioning the need to spend vast amounts of money on an incinerator in York.

She took part in the successful campaign to prevent Coppergate II and is "standing by" for more action in case this inappropriate scheme is ever officially resurrected.

She is a member of St Nicholas Fields committee and helps promote composting in York as a "Rotter".

When not working she enjoys a spot of organic gardening.
