Rachael Davies

Policy Officer

Rachel lives in Fishergate and has supported the Green Party since moving here in 2011.

Believing that Green policies make the most sense for creating a better world, Rachel has become more actively involved Green Party efforts in recent years. In particular, she is keen to promote walking and cycling, and better, more affordable public transport for cleaner air; and sustainable, environmentally friendly food projects.

Rachel is a local Snow Warden volunteer, has appealed for better road safety for cyclists and pedestrians, and has been involved maintenance of the football pitches and wildflower areas around the Millennium Bridge.

She worked as a music teacher at York College for 5 years, then at York St John University, and currently teaches music for the Open University. She runs local choirs for children and adults, and also enjoys baking, hiking, swimming, gardening and wildlife. She has a young daughter, is a vegetarian, and has a special interest in trees and fungus!
