Richard Thurley
Candidate for Bishopthorpe Ward
Richard Thurley is 45 and lives in Bishopthorpe. He works at the Centre for Global Education, based at York St John University. He has worked in the field of development education for ten years, starting off at a Schumacher College course called 'How do we recharge our own batteries?'He previously worked for a small NGO, 'Tools for Self Reliance' partnering grass-roots organisations in six sub-Sarahan countries. The links between environmental, social, personal and spiritual health have been long-standing threads.
In his spare time he sings in a local choir, Soon Amore, and is an avid City Screen-goer. He is also a governor/trustee on the York Steiner School Council.
