Denise Craghill, Executive Member for Housing says:
“City of York Council invests heavily in the homes of residents. Over five years we will be investing £44m in council homes, in addition to our annual budget of £8m for maintaining council homes and keeping residents safe.
“Between 2021 and 2022: 432 homes were refurbished, 136 homes received new double glazed windows, 19 homes received new roofs, 458 homes received new energy efficient heating systems and 492 new doors were fitted.
“In 2022/23 a further 410 homes are due to be refurbished, double glazed windows will be installed in 244 homes, 443 new energy efficient heating systems will be installed, and 51 new roofs will be fitted.
“As a Council we’re also committed to developing 600 new homes to the very highest standard across York in council-owned sites, through the Housing Delivery Programme. The programme will deliver at least 40% affordable housing, twice the amount required by planning policy.”
