Green Party leader, Zack Polanski, called for bold Government action in his Conference speech on Friday, speaking to a packed Conference Hall as Green Party membership continued to climb rapidly, passing Lib Dem membership levels over the weekend.
He called for a tax on the wealthiest few that would end ‘rip-off Britain’ and make the country an affordable place to live, adding that taxing the assets of the richest 1% would enable the government to fund public services properly including universal free childcare, special needs education and rural bus routes.
He defended the rights and contributions of migrants and refugees, accusing Labour of being “handmaidens” of Reform UK adding: “When Farage says jump, Labour asks ‘how high’.” He added that Keir Starmer’s Government has failed to go far enough on issues like the climate crisis, but is going too far in cracking down on our rights as citizens, saying of Nigel Farage that “Greens will never dance to the tune of a Trump loving, tax avoiding, science-denying, NHS dismantling corporate stooge.”
