Green light for Respark

Michael Kearney in the Respark area

York Greens are delighted that the Heslington Road R66 ResPark scheme is finally going ahead next week, 7 years after York Greens first presented a petition! York Greens started the campaign in 2019 so we are delighted to see that our work is going to improve the daily lives of so many Fishergate residents.
Mike Kearney, Fishergate Green candidate, spoke at both public decision meetings last year, urging that the Executive Member should act in support of the majority of responses that were in support of action.

‘He said: “As a local resident within the R66 area, I am delighted to have helped bring about this change for everyone in the neighbourhood. Residents have been asking us for this and we have helped to deliver.” Concerns have grown in recent months about additional parking pressures from contractors now that planning permission has been granted to Persimmon for 240 new flats on the nearby Barbican site.
