Greens support Save our NHS demo

17 March 2013

York Green Party is supporting the regional demonstration taking place in York on Saturday 6th April to protest against the devastating attack being carried out by this Coalition Government on our National Health Service. Green Party speakers including Cllr Andrew Cooper from Kirklees will be joining hundreds of expected participants in 'Reclaiming our NHS' and rejecting privatisation.

York Green Party Chair, Denise Craghill says "The Health and Social Care Act is effectively putting the NHS out to private tender. Private companies must be allowed to bid for NHS contracts, bogging doctors and health care staff down in complex tendering procedures. The previous 2% limit on private care in NHS hospitals has been raised to 49%, leaving only 50% of the NHS guaranteed to public access."

"The Green Party believes in a fully funded National Health Service, free to everyone at the point of delivery. Our members will be proud to join the hundreds of protesters expected in York on 6th April to deliver a clear message to the Government that our NHS is Not for Sale."

The demo starts at noon outside the Minster. Find out more at http://defendournhsyork.wordpress.com/.
