York Greens response to Christmas Floods 2015

28 December 2015

At 5pm on Sunday night, the River Ouse was 5.1m above summer level (asl) and is expected to peak on Monday lunchtime at approx 5.3m asl.

Over 500 properties have already been directly affected, with people having to abandon their businesses and homes. The safety of the people of York is paramount.

Almost 100 people are seeking shelter at Archbishop Holgate School. Vulnerable residents who are in need of help in transport to the rest centre are being advised to call the police on 101. North Yorkshire Police says due to technical difficulties receiving 101 calls, a temporary number has been set up. In non emergencies dial 01609 768182.

City of York Council can be contacted on 01904 551550 or flood@york.gov.uk
