The Green Party's co-leader in the region this week in the fight against imminent fracking

29 September 2017

The national Green Party's co-leader, last in York in November 2016 to support us after the Boxing day floods, Jonathan Bartley is here again next week to visit Kirby Misperton frack site in a last attempt to show strong opposition before trucks start arriving.

Frack protest

On the morning of Tuesday 3rd October, Mr Bartley will be at the site to talk to protesters who have been camping there for over a year now. He is going to offer strength and support at a time when fracking machinery could be arriving imminently at the site.

Jonathan Bartley has said:

“Fracking is dirty, dangerous and expensive. It contaminates local air, water and soil and the community in Lancashire said they didn’t want it. Instead of overriding their wishes and destroying our climate commitments in the process by drilling for gas we should be investing in renewable energy for the future."

Whichever party you are a member or supporter of or none, Greens are encouraging as many people as possible who are concerned about fracking happening on their doorsteps in North Yorkshire, to visit the protection camp on Tuesday.
