The government have put forward a poposal to merge the City of York with Scarborough, Ryedale and Selby.
We believe that such a new council would:
- Be much more remote from the people of York
- No longer have a focus on the City, but on the rural and coastal communities
- hurt the promotion of York (and of North Yorkshire)
- would harm many of the networks that have been set up
